Moab Rocks Overview

Who Is Moab Rocks?

In 2002, TransRockies brought mountain bike stage racing to North America with the 7-day TransRockies Challenge. And since those early days, our mission has been to help riders challenge themselves on the best riding this continent has to offer.

So, in 2013, when we had the opportunity to bring a stage race to Moab, Utah—one of the most revered and legendary mountain bike destinations in the world—we jumped at the chance. But we think of Moab Rocks as much more than a race, we are:

Committed to the experience. We strive to put on an amazing event for our participants with challenging, professionally marked courses in beautiful locations. This event is about every person who crosses the finish line, and we want to celebrate all those who are passionate, persevere and show great character.

Passionate about Moab as a place to play (and live). As much as possible, we support local businesses, hire local crews, and we’re always looking for new ways to increase the sustainability of our events by reducing their impact on the environment.

Devoted to our crew. Our crew and volunteers mean the world to us. Without them this event wouldn’t be possible, so don’t be surprised if you see them being treated like rockstars!

On Sustainability

Beyond our commitment to the racers, crew and community that make this event special, we’re also committed to our planet. That means we pledge to:

  • Create as little waste as possible.

  • Return as much richness to our community as possible.

More specifically, we will:

Work toward zero waste by:

  • Recycling at our checkpoints/aid stations.

  • Re-gifting leftover aid station food to volunteers and crew.

  • Eliminating the use of cups at our aid stations.

  • Reusing or recycling all of our event materials and infrastructure, including course marking materials.

Give back to our community by:

  • Holding fundraisers and making donations to local not-for-profits when possible.

  • Sourcing as much as we can from local people and businesses.

  • Helping to promote local causes, especially those that are participating in Moab Rocks
